Meet Jessica

Jessica Self is an attorney, fighting for Valley children who don’t have a stable home or a foundation to grow and thrive. As an Assemblymember, she will prioritize funding for Valley schools, support for children and families, and an end to domestic violence.

Born in the Valley and running to represent its unique community, Jessica is running for State Assembly to improve the everyday lives of Valley residents struggling to pay bills, afford a home, handle health care issues, raise their children, and find a good paying job. She has a vision for the Valley that rebuilds our middle class and allows residents to live healthy, happy lives.

Jessica is a community leader. She has served in leadership with local organizations including the Humane Society and the ACLU. She served as chair of the Stanislaus County Democratic Party and founded the Blue Wave Project in 2015 which works to recruit, endorse, support, and elect new candidates to local government. She believes in public service, giving back and working together to solve tough problems.

Jessica is an advocate for women and equal rights. She served as the vice president of programs for the Stanislaus County Commission for Women, and was vice President of the LGBTQ+ advocacy group MoPride. She will be a fierce advocate to protect fundamental rights and the dignity of everyone in the community.

Jessica attended UC Santa Barbara and Western State University College of Law. She lives in Modesto with her husband Eric, a local realtor and Marine veteran, their dog Dewey, and cat Ollie.
