TOP PRIORITIES

JESSICA SELF IS COMMITTED TO DELIVERING BETTER HEALTHCARE, EDUCATION, HOUSING, GOOD PAYING JOBS, AND MUCH MORE TO THE RESIDENTS OF ASSEMBLY DISTRICT 22

Good Paying Jobs

The Stanislaus 2023 Investment Blueprint found that “Only 13% of jobs in Stanislaus County can be categorized as ‘good’ jobs” and that “local training programs… do not lead to promising and good jobs.”. This is unacceptable. As an Assemblymember, Jessica will work to boost local opportunities in manufacturing, support small businesses and build a future for workers and families in the 22nd District.

Affordable housing at all income levels.

A lack of quality and affordable housing is one of our region’s greatest challenges. Homes that just a few years ago were affordable for first-time buyers are now completely out of reach. Jessica will prioritize creating
more paths to homeownership and creating more affordable housing for middle and low income families.

We are also not making a dent in our local homeless crisis, which includes hundreds of veterans, children and nieghbors in need of mental health services. Jessica will lead on solutions to ensure both short term access to housing and long term solutions to the crisis facing too many of our neighborhoods.

Quality and Affordable Health
Care
for All.

Stanislaus County has among the highest rates in California of Heart Disease, Breast Cancer, Alzheimers, Diabetes and host of other health indicators. Jessica will ensure the Valley has enough medical providers while also fighting to lower costs for prescription drugs, expand in-home services for our seniors and ensure every Valley resident has access to healthcare.

Education.

Modesto was ranked as the 145th “least educated among the 150 largest U.S. metropolitan areas.” We have a high school dropout rate of 17%, six points higher than the national average. The bottom line is we are failing our kids. Jessica will fight to fully fund local schools, support our educators and our families to make sure that every child has an equal shot at success.

Safe Schools and Safe Neighborhoods.

Jessica works every day to fight for Valley children who need safe, stable communities and a place to learn and grow. She will stand up for safety in and around our schools and protect our neighborhoods.

Safe, Clean Reliable Water.

The Valley economy relies on stable water supplies, and Valley residents deserve clean, reliable water when they turn on the tap. Jessica will improve our water delivery systems and ensure safe and dependable water supplies for everyone in the 22nd
